Washington University faculty members are among the 17 esteemed experts appointed as Special Advisors to new Prosecutor, Karim A.A. Khan, of the International Criminal Court in the Hague. Leila Sadat, the James Carr Professor of International Criminal Law and the director of the Whitney R. Harris World Law Institute at the School of Law, will advise on crimes against humanity; and Kim Thuy Seelinger, a research associate professor at the Brown School, will advise on sexual violence in conflict.

Special Advisers to the Prosecutor are individuals with exceptional professional credentials and expertise in their fields. Within their respective role, they provide advice to the Prosecutor and may also assist in training initiatives.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, when warranted, will try individuals charged with the most serious crimes of concern to the international community: genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression.
