Scholars’ Team-Building Retreat
In response to scholars’ requests to have more team building, networking and leadership events, the McDonnell International Scholars Academy hosted its first scholars’ team-building retreat, for all cohorts of the academy in residence, on Sept. 7-8, 2013. Activities were led by TeamWorks, LLC, facilitators who incorporated experiential learning, team challenges and outdoor high adventure along with facilitated discussions on leadership, communication and trust. The ultimate goal of these activities and the retreat was to learn more about one another away from the campus environment, build relationships and improve communication.
The Academy provided all transportation, housing and food during the stay at YMCA Trout Lodge, a campground located in Missouri’s Eastern Ozarks and situated on a 360-acre lake surrounded by 5,200 acres of forest-covered hills. This was a great and unique opportunity for all cohorts to participate in an activity together.
