The McDonnell International Scholars Academy’s 2017-2018 cohort of Scholars participated in the Academy’s Welcome Week activities, including a bowling competition, etiquette workshop and welcome reception at director James V. Wertsch’s home.
The Academy’s Welcome Week is designed to help foster relationships and build a cohesive network of Scholars, strengthening the global ties between Washington University in St. Louis and the Academy’s 33 Partner Universities. The week is filled with team-building and cultural activities, including a retreat at YMCA Trout Lodge in Potosi, Missouri. This year’s cohort consists of Scholars from Australia, Brazil, China, Ghana, India, Israel, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and the United States. The Academy welcomed its first Scholar from Mexico, culminating in 85 Scholars in residence this year.
