Addressing global challenges requires a collaborative effort. By working with our McDonnell Academy Partner Universities, governments and corporations, we engage in groundbreaking educational approaches and research that advance our world.
Current Focus Areas
Through partnerships, researchers and students throughout the WashU global community have made significant progress in several key focus areas:
Climate Change | Energy & Environment | Food & Water | Public Health | Social Development

Sustaining Momentum
Washington University and the Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) continue their partnership to attract and educate some of the top candidates coming to the United States for a PhD. The Taiwan MOE-WashU Fellowship program provides a particularly strong engagement between Washington University and Taiwan, and a successful partnership with the Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE). The structure provided by the McDonnell International Scholars Academy has played a critical role in this collaborative engagement.
Collaborative Impact
Our collaborators share a commitment to research and education as the means to approaching global issues. Through the Academy alone, we engage many of the world’s premier research faculty and enroll over 600,000 of the world’s most promising students. This work could not be done without the support of our corporate and foundation sponsors.
